Is it time to downsize?

You are sitting in your house in which you have been for the last twenty-five to forty years. That's a lifetime! You moved in there with nothing; you had children, you had pets, you had countless of Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, as well as many birthday parties. Over the years, you have accumulated so many things, such as the two sets of china to host epic family gatherings, not to mention the children have left their stuff in the basement forever. You have known Mrs. Smith from across the street for decades. This is your home and you love it.

Something has been in your mind lately – you have been playing with the idea of making a move. The yard work feels like a burden and maintaining the house is weighing you down – keeping clean rooms that are seldom used anymore. The reality is your life is different nowadays. You don’t need so much space.  Maybe it’s time to rightsize.

If only it were that easy to let go.

The thing is it is not just about selling a property. It is about letting go of the memories. And this is when the fantasy gets incredibly stressful.

The first step when deciding it is time to make a move is to declutter your house. It is not going to be easy. However, you don’t have to do it alone and, throughout the years, I’ve created strategies to make the process as smooth as possible. I've been there (many times with my clients) and can help you every step of the way.

Let me repeat this, so it sinks in: you don't have to do it alone. It can be done and it will be done.

Once the house is decluttered and ready for sale, it is all downhill. And let me assure you, the next life stage is fantastic! You will feel lighter and will have more freedom to travel. You won't be spending your free time maintaining a house – forget about the yard, the roof, and those empty rooms.

You will have more freedom to come and go as you please.

I know all this because I have seen it over and over again with my clients.

I’ve walked in your shoes.
